Contrast of Characters

With my two roles they're completely different Helena being a young women in love not knowing much else about the world and Gonzala an elderly wise woman who has seen the many sides of the world and its happenings.

When displaying both of these to an audience I really needed to display both their personal characteristics effectively to give the correct connotations of the script/shakespeares words.

With Helena I feel like she reacts more with the audience being treating them like a friend/ her internal thoughts showing her most vulnerable sides to them letting them see everything she has to give. She can never really fully describe what she means, so has to say a lot to get to her right conclusion, really showing how young and naive she is. She's also very full of energy through her youth and lack of knowledge of how harsh the world is until all her troubles start, this monologue being the start of it.

Gonzala is very different to this, she keeps a very similar emotion throughout apart form a few occasions I feel this being her trying to stay calm for the king and keep a collected head, being quite wise she knows that there is no use in panicking in the situation as will result in nothing. Her statements are always exact and to the point, she knows what she wants to say and what effect it is going to have therefore acts very much within herself and to her other characters if she desires their attention when speaking. When acting like a narrator, she does interact with the audience to explain to them what has occurred and how it all fits in to what they have seen so far, really acts as a narrator pretty much the whole time for the audience but not talking to them just within her speech to others which is why she's important to have slower speech and good dictions and articulation, having a lot of responsibility for he audiences understanding of the performance.
